Katz Prize – Call for Submissions for 2025

The Katz Foundation and the Katz Prize Committee hereby announce that submissions of candidates for the 2025 Katz Prize, founded by the late Mordechai David Katz and Adina Katz, are being accepted.

The Katz Prize was founded by Marcos and Adina Katz fifty years ago in 1975, in memory of Marcos’ mother, Mrs. Golda Katz. The prize was instituted to encourage the application of Jewish law and philosophy to modern life.

Like people everywhere, the Jewish people live in an environment and era of rapid change in all areas of life. Almost every day, we witness innovative technological developments and scientific breakthroughs that have a powerful impact on our lives in all areas, including: medicine, food, security, leisure culture, family life, society and government, the environment, high-tech and agriculture.

We have lately witnessed several new paths in the realm of spirituality, including a new traditional literary genre of Bible exegesis that maintains fidelity to Jewish law and heritage.

These innovations present each of us as individuals and as a people, with questions and challenges that require clarification from the sources of Jewish law and philosophy. This is the core purpose of the Katz Prize – to honor organizations and individuals who are engaged in the application of Jewish law to modern life, in written works and in practical initiatives.

The award will be given this year to institutions or individuals who, through their work, writing, and research, have made a significant contribution to applying the sources, Jewish law and Jewish philosophy to modern life.

This year, awards (up to $25,000 each) will be presented in a ceremony that will be held in Jerusalem.

The members of the election committee for 5785-2025 are: Prof. Menachem Ben-Sasson (chairman), Rabbi Shlomo Dichovsky, and Rabbi Chaim Sabato.

Submissions should be sent to info@katzprize.org from Tuesday, 5 Tammuz, 5785, July 1, 2025, until Thursday 4 Elul, 5785, August 28, 2025.

For questions and inquiries, please contact the aforementioned email address.
